Grīvā Basti

Grīvā means neck and Basti means to bathe. This therapy includes the application of heated medicated oil on the upper neck region in the form of a pool made with a dough of chickpea flour. The therapy is conducted in cases of neck or shoulder-related pain, injury, or for releasing burden and worry.

Procedure:

  • During Grīvā basti treatment the therapist prepares dough from special grains which are shaped into a well and placed on the affected area. The small dam is then placed around the area and oil is then slowly poured in small quantities over the neck area. The warm oil is retained in the area at a specific temperature for a specific time

  • Once the oil is removed the therapist will massage specific Marma points around the affected area.

  • The treatment is best done over a series of 7-10 sessions, your practitioner will design a personalized treatment protocol during your first consultation.

  •  At Amogha Ayurveda we recommend this treatment can be done within a week’s gap for long-lasting results.

  • Treatment (Grīvā basti) is done for a period of 45 minutes per session.
